CLAIRE DE LUNE RESIDENCE

This home is nestled between the pulse of the city and the calm of nature. The clients entrusted Hanne by Design to instill a more European lived-in feel and character into the home - layered with organic textures, clean lines, calm, and a sense of timelessness. The project was kicked off by reimagining an existing fireplace. The design was inspired by Belgian and European homes, where true craftsmanship, timeless design, and authenticity come together effortlessly.

The concept took shape during a visit to a local stone yard, where a slab of natural stone, freshly cut from a marble quarry on northern Vancouver Island, stood out. Rather than altering its character, the design honors the integrity of the material with its raw edges and natural veining.

The natural stones of the mantel and hearth were combined with rich textures of Italian lime plaster applied around the staircase spanning two levels of the home. A focal point that feels grounded, inviting, and serene, a balance of timeless tradition and refined contemporary design.
